<image:caption> What is wrong here? Why is a 1900 vintage Gilbert clock housing a tachyon plasma display? The original brass movement was transmografied into a wormhole time gauge while an antique porcelain switch controls the direction of time travel. The many anachronisms bring into question issues of time, place and space. How did it get here? Who used it? How does it work? This piece is the result of over six months of work, including four months of high voltage experiments to come up with a small, solid state Jacob's Ladder. The second story is an oak file card box from the 1950s, while some interesting brass and copper repurposed pieces used in this assemblage include two oilers and a boiler safety valve.</image:caption>

<image:title>THE LAST TRAIN - Now watch video with sound</image:title>
<image:caption> This piece can be understood as an allegory to our mortality and yet maybe there are alternatives in the message. Make no hasty assumption about the train's destination and the scene changes. Possibly this is just a routine conversation between a conductor and a passenger? These questions may come to the viewer as the text is read, the pendulum swings, the lights flash with the sound of the train. The design started with a clock that I enhanced with brass, copper and steel additions to simulate a railroad locomotive, albeit a strange one, with glowing wheels and flashing lights. Trains run on time schedules, so we have a quartz clock with two pendullums evoking rail crossings. The 20 sec sound of the steam locomotive leaving the station can be set as a chime every 30 or 60 minutes, running continuously or turned off. A train signal light is mounted behind the pendulum, and changes from red to green every 10 seconds. The lights protruding from the clock are vacuum tubes protected with copper cages which are clear anachronisms and add mystery as to the kind of train we have here. They flash consecutively around the clock, one flash per second. The clock stands approximately 30" tall and consumes approximately 25 watts from the included 12V wall adapter.</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSORY ILLUMINATION - WEATHER STATION DESK LIGHT -- At Finer Arts Gallery</image:title>
<image:caption>Before leaving home in search of tears in the space-time fabric, one should be aware of dangerous plasma storms that can be seen approaching in the plasma ball. Cosmic rays are another danger that are detected by the rotating antenna and radiometer. The neon tubes on the sides warn of electrostatic beams. Back at home, it offers the utility of a desk light with dimming LEDs, quartz clock USB charger port and a Bluetooth music player! What else would you need? Here is an adaptation of the old “weather glass” in the form of a plasma ball, surrounded by a baroque cast brass lamp base. The vintage wood radio case holds a new quartz clock movement and above is a dual LED desk light, surrounded by a water heater coil wrapped in EL wire. There is a toggle switch on front for the LEDs that are surprisingly bright and dimmable using the brass valve handle on the side. In addition there is a USB charger port on the side. This Laboratory creation is the Swiss army knife of steampunk lights! This fantastic desk light runs off of 12V. With LEDS at max brightness, and full volume from the Bluetooth music player, total power consumption is approx 30 watts. The clock is removable from front to change the AA battery. The piece stands 24” high and 11” wide with padded bottom feet, including a one year guarantee on workmanship.</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSORY ILLUMINATION - CORONA LIGHT (and amusement center) -- SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>Could have been used by DR. Frankenstein as a desk light. Sitting atop a fine 1900 vintage mantle clock, trimmed in brass, sits the 14,000 volt climbing arc, known as a Jacobs Ladder, while the orange neon light on the left and the flashing green vacuum tube on the right, provide ambient light. All the while the multi color plasma panel provides an ever changing array of “lightning bolts”. The two LED high intensity goose neck lights have an independent switch. There is a proximity detector, so if no motion is present, the Jacobs Ladder turns off, waiting for the next viewer. Runs off of 110V using a UL approved oil burner igniter to create the arc. This is a very lively and intriguing assemblage and the independent LED lights add to its utility. Amaze your friends and family! One of a Kind is an understatement 16”L x 23”H x 7”D VGL guarantee</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSORY ILLUMINATION - FIRE STATION ---- SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>FIRE ! FIRE! These cries brought fear to our forebears of 100 years ago. Imagine yourself protected with this non-functional creation of a multi-purpose fire station, doubling as a color changing accent light. On top is a red LED inside of a safety cage, above a series of pipes and valves. No kitchen should be without. This assemblage is to remind us of those wall-mounted fire extinguishers that were ubiquitous in public buildings and schools in the 1930s to the 1960s. No longer a working extinguisher this wall sconce is meant to evoke a fire station, with pipes, gauges and the red globe safety light always on, as were the old fire call boxes. Below is a vintage holophane globe sitting atop a Neptune (NY City) water meter case. Beneath the globe is an LED bulb that is controlled by a remote. Any color can be remotely selected as well as light levels. The solid brass, soda-acid extinguisher is in wonderful condition, is a QuickAid, and was manufactured by General Pacific Corporation in Los Angeles around 1948-1950. The piece is mounted to a board for wall mounting but it can easily be removed and used as an impressive table lamp. It runs off of a 12v wall adapter and consumes less than 7 watts. 45" tall by 22" wide</image:caption>

<image:caption> The next step beyond solar energy efficiency is to capture the energy from the aether. Here is the Aether Power Light which gathers and then amplifies the aether in two LED-powered vacuum tubes. A pressed glass prismatic globe from a 19th century kerosene lantern is topped by a Holophane shade. Inside is a 9" long, 40 watt Edison tube light wrapped with green EL wire. The large valve and handle is substantial solid brass. The mahogany box is a 1940s test equipment meter box with a ball bearing connected dimmer for very smooth operation . The piece is beautifully proportioned at 23" high and 11" wide. Extra bulb included. BAR LIGHT</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSORY ILLUMINATION - Aether Power Light</image:title>
<image:caption>Forget solar power this light is powered from the aether. Built on a vintage voltmeter case, the brass valve holds a dimmer for the led tubular bulb inside a 1870 cut glass kerosene lamp base, with a holophane shade above. As the valve handle is turned the light dims and the current used is displayed on the meter. Red and blue vacuum tubes powered by LEDs are on the sides. Max powder is read from the meter at 12v x .2 Amps =2.4W! 10w x 23" tall and runs from 12v wall unit. </image:caption>

<image:title>SENSORY ILLUMINATION - FIRE STATION</image:title>

<image:title>SENSORY ILLUMINATION - TOWERING INFERNO</image:title>
<image:caption>.....SOLD....... This lamp is geared to heat things up, with two 11" Edison bulbs nestled within a sensuous copper coil wrapped with red EL glow wire. This is an “over the top” lamp, made from a solid copper and brass extinguisher, topped with a “Hollywood Regency” solid brass post light with brass decoration and copper tassels. All real brass! On the bottom, providing stability, is a massive Italian ornate cast brass lamp base. There have been lamps made from fire extinguishers before, but none like this. The standard rubber hose and plastic nozzle have been replaced by a copper-colored braided hose with a custom machined solid brass nozzle. At the bottom, one side is the on/off toggle switch and the other side has a red valve handle controlling the dimmer for the Edison bulbs. This is a statement piece measuring almost 48” tall. The copper has been polished and lacquered and comes with an extra long vintage-look twisted cord. Bulbs are rated at 60W and 3000 hours and replacements are readily available. Comes with with a one year workmanship guarantee – truly one-of-a-kind. NOTE: A companion lamp is available to make a matched pair </image:caption>

<image:caption>"You're on the last train" said the man in black. Your ticket was punched. You never knew.” .This piece may be interpreted as an allegory about our mortality or maybe not, so make no hasty assumptions about the train's destination. Possibly this is just a routine conversation between a conductor and a passenger? Are we fearful of our" Last Ride"? The design started with a clock that is enhanced with brass, copper and steel to simulate a railroad locomotive, albeit a strange one, with glowing wheels and flashing lights. Trains run on precise time schedules, hence the quartz clock with top and bottom pendulums evoking a rail crossing. A train signal light is mounted behind the lower pendulum and changes from red to green every 10 seconds. The lights protruding from the clock are vacuum tubes protected with copper cages which are clear anachronisms and add mystery as to the kind of train we have here. They flash consecutively around the clock, one flash per second. The clock stands approximately 30" tall and and consumes approximately 3 watts from the included 12V wall adapter. The electronics are microcontroller based. This is the ULTIMATE clock for a train enthusiast and a "one of a kind".</image:caption>

<image:caption>Here is a striking piece that is both a clock and an accent light. The elements in this assemblage span 150 years. The cut glass base and pressed glass cylinder, illuminated from within with blue LEDs and cold cathode tubes, is from a Hollywood Regency mid-century lamp. The asymmetric wood base is a Honduran mahogany cigar box wrapped in brass banding. The solid brass clock case is from a World War II liberty ship that was scrapped in Mobile, Alabama, now updated with a line-operated quartz movement so batteries are not needed. The pendulum is from an 1870s vintage kitchen clock. Above is a gaslight assembly from the 1880s supporting an always-on, blue LED illuminating the face. It operates from a 12V wall adapter and consumes less than 5W. The switch on the base controls the lights. 30”H x 9”W x 6”D</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - GREAT BALLS OF FIRE -----SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>This is one of the most beautifully ornate mantle clocks to emerge from the Laboratory. Solid brass trim and bass balls have been copiously added to this rare, Seth Thomas clock case with its patented adamintine , faux stone finish. Looks new!. The fire comes from the 20,000 volt Jacobs Ladder, flanked on one side by a green cold cathode light and the other by an LED, driving side emitting fiber optic strands in resin. They flash alternately at once a second. Across the front, is a green neon tube with a wiggling pattern that is moving inside of the gas. Very unusual effect. The clock runs backwards (good for your mental dexterity), but of course keeps correct time and requires no batteries as it is line driven. Behind the European brass bezel with convex glass The clock dial is always illuminated by a green electroluminescent panel which only requires 1w to keep the face visible always bright. A toggle switch turns on the additional lights and in its other position, adds the arcs and sounds of the Jacobs Ladder. (Note the electrodes are contained in the cylinder for safety but even if touched, the arc is not deadly due to high frequency and low current, but it will burn.) The piece is 17" wide at the base, and stands 27" high. The clock with all its illumination is low power, consuming less than 7 watts, but when the sparks fly, the power usage rises to 50W. Runs on 110V with 3 prong plug for safety. All HV components are UL approved. One year VGL warranty as always. SEE and hear the video https://youtu.be/OpFLzutlwBc</image:caption>

This is one of the most beautiful and richly detailed units to come out of the Laboratory, requiring over 150 hours. The wood cabinet dates from the 1980s and was designed to mimic a 1930s radio. It is covered in brass and adorned with brass details, paint, and over 200 brass slot head screws. The vacuum tubes are fitted with internal LEDs, protected by copper cages. The quartz movement and pendulum run on AA batteries. The electronics are all new and accept a phone jack to play your favorite tunes through the vintage, beefy speaker. The low power plasma display is hard wired to the 12V adapter and total power consumption is less than 2W and 6W with your music playing. There is also a USB charger port on the right side. 29"tall and 16" at its widest</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - HELIOS CLOCK ---SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>Helios is the personification of the sun in Greek mythology and this piece is named after the Greek sun god because of how the round orange plasma ball evokes the sun. The plasma ball has been enhanced with bright orange EL wire that attracts the plasma tendrils and look like solar flares with an eerie green glow deep in its core. The red crystal bulb in front pulses red every second, as do the blue LEDS in the vacuum tubes. Sitting atop this 1900 vintage clock case are hand carved mahogany leaves cradling a quartz clock. Arching behind is a curved copper heating element wrapped in blue EL wire. The 5" solid brass final is supported by brass wires with miniature turnbuckles running down to the vacuum tube cages, creating an interesting triangular composition. The rotary three-way switch on the side allows you to power just the LEDS and EL wire, or the plasma orb with the LEDS. The clock is 24" high and 19" at its widest. It runs off of 110V but only consumes 5W with all lights on. Included is an extra long vintage wire cord and the usual one year workmanship guarantee. </image:caption>

<image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - TESLA TOWER ----SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>In 1904 Nikola Tesla built a 186 foot tower on Long Island above underground shafts to transmit energy and information-carrying waves through the earth. This tribute piece to Tesla contains a 35 watt Tesla coil which without wires, energizes the suspended argon geissler tube above. This reproduces Tesla's demonstrations of 1984 when he held two geissler tubes in front of a giant Tesla coil to demonstrate his wireless lighting. On either side are vacuum tubes with flashing LEDs, connected with copper piping wrapping around the Tesla coil. The front emits a blue light from the electroluminescent sheet, a 2.5" plasma display with a a flashing lightning pattern, and two uranium glass marbles illuminated by UV LEDs which flash once per second. Above is a backwards running clock illuminated with a circular CCFL light. On the very top is a brass hemisphere with 8 flashing blue LEDs to mimic the cupola of the Wardenclyff Tower. Underneath, are LED lights emitting a subtle glow. The piece is housed in a vintage radio case and stands 35" high This is one of the most technically advanced pieces to emerge from the Laboratories enhanced by its historical and educational value. It runs from 110V, and consumes 50W with the Tesla coil turned on. Without the coil, consumption is approximately 15W and is designed to be left on as an accent light as the clock is line-operated with no battery, which is what Nikola Tesla would have wanted. </image:caption>

<image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - SYNCHROTRONIC CLOCK-----SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>This device was recovered from the wreckage of an unmanned time traveling apparatus. After a study by Vandegraaff Laboratories, they posit that it was designed to synchronize itself from pulsing particle waves of unknown origin. It runs backwards they believe, so as to function in the tears in space/time. Modified to run on a battery, the pulsing amplifiers keep searching for a beacon. The oversize clock face with a German convex glass bezel is set into an old Sessions 1910 clock case which looks to be walnut. This is a conversation piece topped with an industrial water heater element wrapped in blue EL wire. The large vacuum tube on top has been drilled out and fitted with blue LEDs. It is wrapped in brass with vintage vacuum tubes that alternately flash once/sec . In front, is a UV CCFL with vintage designed drawer pulls on the sides. The clock keeps time but runs backwards with a sweep second hand to remind you of the backward movement and there is a good chance you will increase your mental dexterity as you learn to read it. Although there is a front switch for the lighting, it can be left on continuously as an accent light as the total power used is less than 3W. The piece is 18” tall and 9” wide with felt protection on the bottom. The quartz clock movement is battery operated. A 12V wall adapter and one year guarantee is included. </image:caption>

<image:caption>When you are faraway in time-space, you need a phase-shifted homing beacon to get back to where you started. Here is the Homing Beacon pendulum clock which broadcasts the phase-corrected local time and thus its position in space-time. The massive old vacuum tube on top, under the metal tower, is the transmitter power tube and brightly lit with red LEDs. The plasma display is flanked by green tubes and topped off with a cool strip of light blue electroluminescence. The tower is constructed from metal members and topped by a radio tower and flashing red light. There is a front jack for connecting your phone to play music through an amplifier with a USB charger port on the side. This is a mid-1980s mahogany veneer wood radio and cassette player looking like one from the 1930s. Replaced with all new electronics, including an efficient 4W amplifier and a massive old vacuum tube from a 1950's TV, now filled with LEDs. The tower was a windmill model. Plasma display and EL tubes and panels use less than 1W, thus the unit is designed for the display and tubes to stay on continuously. The music player has a machined brass volume control and switch with VGL logo. Using the USB charger and amplifier still leaves power less than 6 watts. The unit stands 36” high, including the 7” mast, and is 11” wide. It is delivered fully assembled except for the pendulum, radio mast and clock batteries. Included is a custom, solid wood travel case and as always, a full-service one year guarantee on workmanship. <image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - EARLY GRID ------- SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>The focus point of this desk light is a 1941 AC voltmeter with an embedded brass clock. I have tried to invoke some elements of a power grid with an oak post designed to look like a power pole with an insulator on top lit by an LED. The clock is set into a machined brass pipe fitting with an engraved VGL logo. The lights are 30W Edison incandescents known as radio style bulbs, hanging from old glass insulators with shades handmade from perforated steel. The wheel in the center of the oak post is a dimmer for the lights and the meter reads the output of the dimmer. The grey transformers are old electric binding posts and the white insulators on the side were used in old house wiring. The wires you see on top are only for show as the power wires are contained in the post and inside the pipes. This is one of my few 115V creations, only because I wanted to have the meter read the line voltage. There is significant attention to detail on this piece that an electrician would appreciate. For example, the HV wires feeding the transformers are small gauge, looking like aluminum, which is authentic. Larger gauge wires from transformers are heavy copper. I re-calibrated the meter, made a new meter face and added a VGL logo. The high voltage towers are stained like creosote and the small insulators are Bakelite. The base is re-purposed oak flooring over melamine, wrapped in brass with protective feet. The piece stands 29” high, with a max width of 19” to the outside of the green glass insulators. The base is 7” x 16” and comes with a custom wood box for shipment. A spare bulb is included, with a one year guarantee on workmanship. I have several old meters in wood boxes so I can create a similar piece to your speciufiucation *****************************************************************</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - WORMHOLE CHRONOMETER</image:title>
<image:caption>This chronometer was used on the bridge of Admiralty airships to keep time as they traveled through tears in space-time. The 25,000 volt plasma keeps the wormhole open, while the backwards running clock reverses direction during the warp. The spherical rotating antenna on top gathers the tacheons to be amplified by the side-mounted photonic amplifiers while the working current meter and wormhole display are gimbal mounted below . The case, 40" tall, melds an 19th century English regulator with a 1905 Sessions mantle clock. Embellished with Italian embossed brass banding, 250 brass screws and a hand carved Queen Victoria top piece enhanced with LED eyes. Behind the glass door is a 25,000 volt Jacobs Ladder with enhanced vacuum tubes and an electroluminescent portal. On top is a 3" rotating brass ball and once/sec flashing vacuum tubes. On the sides are 17" cold cathode lights above spiral wound EL wire in brass capped cylinders. Below is a 5" backwards-running clock back-lit by an electroluminescent sheet. At the bottom area working gimbal-mounted current meter and plasma display. This piece contains 14 separate light sources, (LEDs, CCFLs, EL sheets, strips and wires), rotating ball, Jacobs Ladder, reverse clock, working current meter and a 3" plasma display. The Jacobs Ladder is equipped with a proximity detector and only runs when people are nearby. Runs from 110V into a UL/CE listed power supply. The power consumption is less than 20w when the 250w Jacobs Ladder is not running. This is the finest, most ornate and technically advanced piece to emerge from the Laboratories. Full one year VGL warranty.</image:caption>

<image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - Portal Viewer SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>Recovered from an unknown wreckage, we believe this was a future-time-viewer to assist in time-warp navigation. Many parts were destroyed, but Vanderaaff Gearheardt Laboratories, (VGL), has reconstructed it unfortunately without all of the integral parts. Obviously, trhe blue screen behind the pendulum of photonic amplifiers was the screen. The tacheon amplifiers above, with their signature spirals, opened the doors to the past or future, relative to the clock. Much is still unknown. When you look into this clock you see the eerie blue luminescence of the EL panel and it seems you are looking into the portal of another dimension. With two vacuum tubes attached, the pendulum blinks as it swings and the new quartz movement is smooth as trhe sweep second hand moves arround the dial, with no sudden ticks. Two massive solid brass columns on the sides were custom machined and the vacuum tubes on top are lit with blue LEDs matching the spiral and EL panel. The solid wood case with mahogany veneer has carvings on the top and the embelleshed dial and brass corners all add to the beauty of this piece. It all runs from a 12v wall unit and consunmes less than 1 watt. It can be wall mounted or stand on its brass ball feet. It is 24 high and 9" wide. <image:title>SENSATIONAL TIMEKEEPING - STEEL N' TIME.</image:title>
<image:caption>This massive pendulum clock stood for centuries in the entrance hall of the penitentiary for violators of The Time Travel Protocols. It was smuggled backwards in time after the prison fire and subsequent mass escape by miscreant time travelers. It was placed there to remind those violators that time must be treated with care in order to preserve the future and the past. The swinging pendulum and multiple gears evoke the inexorable interlocking of the past, present and future. This is a massive sculpture of polished steel gears, ball bearings and pipes, incorporating a pendulum clock with blue LED strip lighting. The recurring elements of steel and brass, with the sharp edges of the gears contrasting the ball bearings. The rectangle of the light tubes hangs behind the square clock, tethered to the base by triangles formed by the functional guy wires with steel turnbuckles. The structure sits on a full-inch thick piece of vintage American walnut, screwed together for a clean look with no welds. The quartz clock with sweep second hand runs smooth, with small steel balls indicating the hours. There is a gear shaped pendulum with a clear center tube that swings over a blue LED. On top is a vintage vacuum tube illuminated from within by LEDs. The side light comes from LED strips inside an acrylic tube wrapped in copper wire whose brightness can be c hanged by front toggle switch. The LED strips sit inside a second 3" diameter tube, capped on both ends with polished steel acorn nuts. The overall look of this work is industrial sculpture with a vintage twist that functions as a clock and light. This piece weighs 50 lbs, is 36" tall and 23" at its widest point. It requires less than 5 watts from the included 12V wall unit. STEEL N' TIME Close Up</image:caption>

<image:title>Lumino-Kinetic Audible - WORMHOLE NAVIGATION UNIT ----VGL Museum Collection</image:title>
<image:caption>This tall Fantasy Machine is an assemblage of the very old with the new, with multiple lights, motion, plasma devices and electricity to captivate the viewer. The visual and audible effects of the rising Jacob s Ladder plasma is captivating. Here is a Sensational Assemblage on steroids, at the intersection of art and technology. It is constructed to be a plausible machine used for time navigation in Wormholes. First the navigator would direct the ship to the vicinity of a wormhole by viewing the plasma storms in the display. Once close, the plasma would be torn apart by the high voltage, and the tachyon particles collected by the rotating antenna. They would be stored in the flux capacitor. Once charged, the navigator can chose to move forwards or backwards in the wormhole as the clock spins to show the distance traveled. Many intersecting questions are created here to engage the viewer. Why is a 1900 vintage Gilbert clock housing a tachyon plasma display? The original brass movement was transmogrified into a wormhole time gauge while an antique porcelain switch controls the direction of time travel. The many anachronisms bring into question issues of time, place and space. How did it get here? Who used it? How does it work? This piece is the result of over six months of work, including four months of high voltage experiments to invent a , solid state Jacob's Ladder which produces 25,000 volts as it climbs the electrodes, encased in a borosilicate glass tube. The second story is an oak file card box from the 1950s, while interesting brass and copper repurposed pieces used in this assemblage include three oilers and a boiler safety valve. The meters on either side read volts and amps and function as the Jacob's Ladder sparks and the motor turns the antenna on top. This piece is truly one of a kind. No one else but Vandegraaff Laboratories has the technology and skill to produce such a piece, with a solid state Jacobs Ladder, motors, plasma balls and side-emitting fiber optic illumination. The unit stands 38" tall and is 22 inches wide. Watch the Sparks Fly on the video!</image:caption>

Brighter now with side emitting fiber optics replacing the EL wire on the first generation, while the celluloid columns on this 1880s Seth Thomas Adamantine clock are now illuminated. The horizontal green neon, a new feature with an interesting squiggly effect, balances the verticality of the piece. Improving the navigation range is the addition of a moving year display concatenated with the clock. This year display is a vintage water meter behind a magnifying acrylic dome. The larger rotary wheel controls the direction of time travel for both the clock and the year, while the smaller wheel controls the speed of both The piece has a baroque feel with more ornate handles, jeweled rotating antenna, embossed brass trim, and a glossy back patina with copper rubbings. The Jacobs Ladder, controlled by a switch, climbs 18” with its fat plasma arc. This is the epitome of a Sensation Assemblage with lights, motion, and the sound of the plasma arc, not to mention a whiff of ozone. With glass chimney it stands 42”H, 22”wide x 10” deep. The base is a very ornate 1900 vintage mantle clock which has been enhanced by solid brass columns, capitals and bases and embossed Italian brass trim. Its clock face has been replaced by an electroluminescent panel that responds to sound frequency and volume behind a solid brass convex glass bezel. The music comes out of a 1920 vintage phonograph wood horn. On top is a panoply of vintage electronics, with numerous LEDs and and a neon lamp. On the sides are matching green neon lights, controlled by the dimmer wheel. This is a stunning, attention-getting piece with great sound. <image:caption>The magical "SPARK" device was first noticed in an old photograph of Nicola Tesla. appearing behind him on a library shelf. Later it traveled into the hands of Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse always providing that "spark". It was lost until it resurfaced in a Salt Lake City thrift shop. Examined and refurbished by Vandegraaff Gearheardt Laboratories, the "spark" recurs periodically so goggles have been added to insure the safety of bystanders. All LED so it consumes less than 2W from included 12V adapter so it can be left on. 16"H x 9"W ***********************************************************************</image:caption>

<image:title>Lumino-Kinetic Audible - PHOTONIC XSLATOR</image:title>
<image:caption>This is a replica, made from smuggled plans, of the translator aboard Admiralty Airships for communicating with other life forms. We lacked some of the required parts so the telepathic and the light-to-sound circuits are incomplete but the unit does convert sounds into light. Speak to it and watch your voice pattern on the 5" EL display. (Music looks nicer.) The base containing the translator is a 1900's vintage mantle clock which sports three vacuum tubes. The side tubes flash once per second while the top tube, lit from within by LEDs, illuminates the glass pendulum bob as it swings. On the front of the base is a bright blue CCFL tube as an accent light. The top piece sits on solid brass columns and bases turned on a lathe. The clock face is an electro-luminescent panel approximately 4" square. The side lights are made from glass test tubes and solid brass. The included 12v adapter is energy efficient with total power consumption less than 6 watts. The Xslator is finished with solid brass hardware and trim, including the top brass finial. The piece strands 32" tall, 17" at its widest and 8" deep. </image:caption>

<image:caption>A rare($) 1953 Pontiac Chieftain hood ornament, brightly illuminated from within with an LED, sits atop a 12” square of aluminum diamond plate. These hood ornaments are fast disappearing. At the bottom corner, is the ‘53 dashboard speaker cover which once contained a small clock. The clock has been replaced with a new, line-operated quartz movement with sweep second hand, so no batteries are required. Clock is illuminated from behind with amber LEDs matching the “Chief” above. Wall hanging, it measures 18” top to bottom and 16” wide. Runs from a UL, 12V wall adapter and consumes 7 watts. The 12V power supply wire is white and can be painted to blend into the wall. What a great piece for a vintage car lover! <image:caption>Here is the lost brother of Stephen King’s, “Chrtistine”. An old truck grill evokes a rusting hulk but inside lurks the soul of a machine that is Still Kickin’. The 4 gears are wrapped with a cam chain and the 12” red CCFL lights emerge in a V shape, alternately flashing, like an engine starting to turn over. The grill covers a rusty steel plate, wrapped in aluminum, topped with a machined radiator cap with Winged Ornament . The insignia, VGL, is our Vandfegraaff crest. Has a proximity detector so it knows when anyone is near and turns off after 30 seconds to rest when alone. SEE VIDEO</image:caption>

<image:title>DIESELPUNK/ Chrome & Steel - CHAIN DRIVE LAMP---- SOLD</image:title>
<image:caption>From 1903-1985 Harley Davidson used roller chain they manufactured as the final drive on the “Big Twins”. Here we use the same #50 chain, in chrome, rotating slowly through the spur gears. The 45 tooth final gear is chrome but doesn’t have an HD part number so its provenance is unclear. Bolted to the final with chrome acorn nuts is a salvaged HD derby cover. Driving the chain is a DC permanent magnet DC, 1/8 HP gear motor with electronic speed control. Moving the lever on the right changes the speed. Bolted to its drive gear, is a VROD cover with HD logo. Of course the on/off switch on the aluminum column is from a an HD. For lights, there are dual 1960’s vintage adjustable spotlights, controlled by a dimmer at the top. The 4” Blue round CCFL at the top of the column sits beneath a 4” die cast model of the knucklehead motor which would have used such a chain drive. Down below, sitting on the 1.5” slab of vintage cherrywood, is a HD Fishtail muffler tip from a Heritage Classic, illuminated within by a flashing red LED. A small non functional illuminated speedometer sits in front. Sitting on top of the aluminum motor box is a metal chopper model built out of bearings and bolts, with its headlamp and amber signals illuminated by LEDs. On this piece there are 3, 1980s , VERY RARE metal labels, part of HDs early licensing, that were sold at Franklin Stores for crafts. One touts HD’s Chain and Belt Division, and another “Harley Chrome”. In front, down below is a proximity detector surrounded by a helical cut gear. When no one is present, the motor shuts off after 30 seconds. THIS IS A BEAUTY. WATCH THE VIDEO!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Here is a model of a vintage gas pump, with 2 individually controlled LED high-intensity lights on the sides. . The metal globe has glass Texaco logos on both sides with a bright LED bulb inside. Just like resetting the old pumps, the switch for the globe is a crank on the left. The filter is from an automobile, and the hose ends with a hand-crafted nozzle. The digital clock evokes memories of the rotating digits as the attendant pumped our gas at $0.25 a gallon. Even has the lead warning sticker on the side! Stands 27” high and sits on a 7” walnut base. Runs from a 12V wall adapter with all LEDs for efficiency. Other Logos and colors can be made to order, but no duplicates.</image:caption>

The process can be seen through the green neon sight glass in front, squiggling upwards, and monitored by the vintage nickle plated thermometer and recorded by the infusion pressure gauge. The switch for the lights is a vintage valve handle. The clock case is a chrome/nickle pressure gauge, housing a quartz pendulum movement running off of the 12V adapter, so no batteries required. The base is a piece of Appalachian walnut, a full inch thick. Stands 38” high on a base of 12” W x 8”D What a conversation piece for your bar!</image:caption>

<image:title>DIESELPUNK/ Chrome & Steel - STEEL N' TIME ----- SOLD</image:title>

<image:caption>This light was used in the cafeteria in the Penitentiary for Time Traveling Miscreants. This clock was to remind them that the time of their sentence must be served. It was illegally brought back in time after the fire and mass escape. The clockwise rotating switch on the right selects Off-EL Lights only-Edison Light only--All On-. The left knob is a dimmer for the Edison bulb, as the voltmeter reads the voltage. On a tray made of vintage cherry wood, stands this substantial polished steel light with an embedded quartz clock. The center Edison bulb stands 11 inches tall and is controlled by the dimmer knob below. The functioning AC voltmeter on the right is encased like the clock in a polished steel pipe fitting and displays the dimmer voltage. The flanking EL lights and the green EL band, are controlled by a knob to the right of the dimmer. The steel shade is supported by polished stainless steel pipe fittings. The unit stands 24" high and is 13"wide at the base. It is very substantial with protective feet with an extra long vintage twisted brown cloth cord. ************************************************************************</image:caption>
